Aliya is very excited to be returning to Camp Keff for her third summer. She is a second year student at San Francisco State University, studying Early Childhood Education. In addition to making fun memories at Camp Keff, Aliya loves pugs, llamas, and her family.
Born and raised in the San Francisco, Bay Area, Alyssa has always had an interest in helping children learn and grow all while having fun at the same time. During her preschool though middle school years, she developed a love for dance in various styles including: ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary dance, hip hop, and musical theater. During this time, she gained several years of experience working with children and young adults by being a youth group leader and preschool/kindergarten teacher’s assistant through out her high school career. With her bubbly personality and her knowledge from these experiences, Alyssa loves seeing the glowing faces that children have while enjoying an activity or lesson they are participating in.
This is Amanda’s first summer working at a camp, and she is excited to be a part of the Camp Keff team. She has a love for working with children and will be attending the Elementary Teaching Credential Program at SFSU this fall. Amanda also grew up dancing and has had various opportunities teaching basic hip hop to kids. She is ready for some fun in the sun with all the great campers!
Amelia joined the Keff Team this past spring and is excited to be joining the Camp Keff Summer team. She has 7 years of teaching experience and holds a Special Education credential from St Mary’s College. Amelia spent the past year teaching middle school in Palo Alto. She graduated from Birmingham University in central England, majoring in Food Science. Outside of work Amelia enjoys exploring new places with family, attending Sacramento Republic matches, or relaxing by the ocean.
Andrea grew up in California and will be spending her first summer with the Camp Keff team as the Nature and Science Specialist. She studied Marine Biology at UC Santa Cruz and led outdoor science hikes with 5th and 6th graders for 3 years after graduating. Then she moved into a classroom to teach middle school science, and finding her love for physics and chemistry. When Andrea isn’t teaching science, you can find her riding her bike in the mountains, sewing, playing guitar or building something.
Aseer is a graduate of San Mateo High School and will be attending CSM in the fall and plans to major in kinesiology He is very excited to be part of the Camp Keff staff this summer. He has played football for SMHS for 3 years and enjoys working with kids and mentoring them.
Bailey is excited to return for his second summer at Camp Keff. He just finished his first year at Saint Mary’s College and is just thrilled to be back! Outside of work, you can find Bailey playing sports, hanging out with friends or just staying at home watching Netflix.
Brandon Wong is a returning Camp Keff staff member and is very passionate about working with kids and making sure they have the best camp experience possible. Brandon is going into his second year at San Diego State University and is looking forward to another fun summer with all the wonderful campers. Outside of work you can find Brandon working out, playing basketball, walking his dog or hiking.
Brianna is extremely excited to begin her second summer at Camp Keff! She loves working with children and plans to become a pediatric RN in a few years. In her spare time, Brianna has volunteered at the YMCA, been part of a local hospital’s youth auxiliary, and spent time as a babysitter. Brianna looks forward to watching campers learn and experience new and awesome things this summer. She attends California State University, Long Beach during the year and can’t wait to bring wonderful camp memories back to school with her!
Cecily can’t wait for her first year as a Camp Keff counselor! She has attended Girl Scout camp and is excited to bring the fun and joy she remembers from it to Camp Keff. She currently attends Cal State Fullerton in Orange County and is pursuing a degree in Cinema and Television Arts. In her spare time she likes to write, watch movies, cook, and go to Disneyland!
Charis cannot wait for her fourth summer at Camp Keff! She currently studies journalism and theatre at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is Student Council Secretary of the Reynolds School of Journalism. Charis loves to be creative whenever she can, whether through cooking, photography, videography, acting or singing. She also loves any opportunity to get active, particularly through hiking and weightlifting.
Chelsea is returning to Camp Keff as a counselor for her second year. She worked with preschool last year during summer and is excited to work with K-6 this summer. Chelsea is currently going into her junior year at the University of Arizona where she studies Communications as her major. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys working out, walking her dog, and watching Netflix. She is excited to create new memories this summer with all of the campers!
Crystal enjoys drawing, camping, and hanging out with her friends in her free time. She will be a senior at Mills High School next semester and is very excited to spend her summer at Camp Keff! She is passionate about working with kids and looks forward to meeting each and every one of the campers.
This is Erica’s first summer on the staff of Camp Keff. Erica has spent many years attending Jewish day and sleep away camps. Both of her kids attend Camp Keff and she can’t wait to join in on the fun and be a part of the special and fun Camp Keff community. Erica’s background is in culinary arts and fine arts. She is excited to make sure every camper has what they need to have the best summer.
Hector has been fortunate to be returning for his 4th summer at Camp Keff as the Sports Specialist. He graduated from San Josè State University with a degree in Kinesiology-Preparation For Teaching. He brings his positive energy, creativity, and exciting physical activity games to all Camp Keff campers. He has a solid background in education and loves teaching physical education activities to a variety of age groups. His priority has always been to educate the youth about fitness, staying healthy and promoting proper nutrition while making his classes fun and exciting. He is very thrilled to be back and looks forward to teaching campers new and diverting games.
Jacob is excited for his second summer as a camp counselor at Camp Keff. He graduated from Hillsdale High school and is now in his second year at the University of Southern Oregon studying Economics. He has previously worked at Rockin’ Jump in San Carlos. You can find Jacob outside of camp hanging with friends, working out, watching sports, and travelling around the Bay Area.
James was a Counselor at Camp Keff in 2016 and is glad to be returning for this summer. He is currently a Sophomore at California State University Long Beach where he is studying accounting. Prior to Keff, he was a Boy Scout for seven years and ultimately achieved the rank of Eagle on February 24th, 2016. James loves working at Camp Keff and hopes all campers have an awesome summer!
James Toh is a recent graduate of Hillsdale High School at the age of 17. He is excited to start his first job at a summer camp because he has always found working with children as a rewarding experience, and loved going to camps as a child. He is looking forward to giving the same positive, memorable experiences he had to the children coming into Camp Keff. Outside of work you can see James playing baseball, basketball, or any other sport as he loves to get outside and be active. He has played baseball his entire life, and may continue to play in college. He is attending San Francisco State in the fall.
Jared is so excited to be returning to the Camp Keff staff this summer! This will be his second summer as a Unit Head but the PJCC has always been a large part of his life. Jared attended preschool at the PJCC, went to camp here, and has been both a Counselor and a Unit Head in the past. He loves every moment at Camp Keff and can’t wait to meet all of his campers! Jared studies Cinema & Television Arts and Photography at Elon University. Camp Keff means a great deal to him and he is eager to provide campers with the same, amazing experiences he had growing up!
Jasmine loves being at camp! Her favorite camp activity is Builders and Bulldozers, it’s awesome. When she is not at camp she enjoys spending time with her friends and reading. She is looking forward to another summer of Keff!
Jessica is new to Camp Keff this year and has just recently move to the Bay area all the way from the windy city of Chicago, IL. She has a love of learning and helping young kids. Jessica has a background in early childhood special education. She graduated from Judson University in 2014 with a Bachlors in Early Childhood Special Ed. She hopes to get settle out here and go back to school to earn her Masters in Social Work. She is very excited to start with camp this year as our Art Specialist.
Josh is pumped to be spending his first summer as a counselor at Camp Keff this summer. Josh grew up in the Bay Area and is a recent graduate of Sequoia High School in Redwood City. In the fall he will be starting school at the University of Colorado Boulder. Josh was a camper at Camp Keff as a child and has more recently worked at CIT at Camp Tawonga and a volunteer at the Friendship Circle. Josh is passionate about the environment and Judaism and he is excited to give his campers an unforgettable summer and teach them new things.
Katie is so excited to return for her second summer at Camp Keff! She just finished her second year at Marist College in New York studying Social Work with a double minor in Psychology and Music. She is super involved in her school’s music program and spends most of her time in the music department, helping with sectionals with the Chamber choir, and practicing and arranging music for her a Capella group. Katie’s favorite summer activities include hiking, going to the beach, or eating frozen yogurt with raspberries and hanging out with her two younger brothers. She also spends any free time she has painting, playing guitar, and taking care of her awesome pet fish.
This will be Kristy’s fifth year working at Camp Keff. She is a foster city native and a graduate from UC Berkeley (Go bears!). She graduated with a degree in Psychology and Education with a focus on child development. Besides her experience of studying kids throughout college, she has had lots of experience working with kids in camp settings, outside camp and as a classroom teacher in Piedmont. She is now completing her credential and masters in education to further her teaching passion. When she is not spending her time with kids, she is traveling, spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants or running.
Lorna is excited to join the Camp Keff staff as a counselor this summer. During the school year, she works as a substitute teacher for the San Mateo-Foster City School District and in the PJCC’s after school program, Treehouse. She is currently pursuing her teaching credential and masters degree in education. Prior to teaching, Lorna worked as the Writer & Communications Manager at The Nueva School, an independent school with campuses in Hillsborough and San Mateo. She also covered education as a reporter for newspapers on the Southern Oregon Coast and in Humboldt County. In her spare time, Lorna enjoys playing flute, running, swimming, and photography.
Marissa will be returning as a counselor for her second year. She has previous experience with kids as a preschool volunteer as well as at other summer camps including Peninsula Day Camp. She will be attending the University of Arizona as a Freshman this fall. Marissa’s favorite part of the summer is bringing campers together to have a fun experience.
Michelle has been working with children in an education since 2012. She is a recent graduate from San Francisco State University where she studied Psychology and Child Development. She enjoys making art in her free time including paintings, drawings, watercolor paintings collages and mandalas. She currently works as a Lead Teacher at the Treehouse After School Program and is excited to be the Art Specialist at Camp Keff this summer!
Michelle (Teen and One-Week Camps), has been working seasonally at the PJCC for the past 10 years. It has served as a home-base for her while she pursued her Theatre Arts and Performance degree from Hofstra University and Master’s certification in Special Effects Makeup for Television, Film and Theatre from the the Make Up For Ever Academy in Manhattan. When not at camp, Michelle is a stage manager, makeup artist and producer with several Bay Area companies including Broadway By The Bay, Hillbarn, and Educational Theatre Company (where she has been the camp director the past three summers.) During the school year she gets to come back to the center each day as a Treehouse teacher!
Miles can’t wait to join and contribute to Camp Keff this summer. This will be his first summer working with Camp Keff, and is honored and excited to join the program. Miles will be attending UC Santa Cruz as a freshman in the fall, and enjoys playing soccer and other sports, making music, all sorts of arts and crafts, activities in nature, and being around fantastic people. While it will be his first year at Camp Keff, Miles has enjoyed being a part of multiple Jewish camp and religious environments, and can’t wait to work with the kids, staff, and parents at Camp Keff.
Mimi is excited for her second summer as a Camp Keff Counselor. Mimi has a passion for arts and crafts, dance and cooking/baking. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with children, friends and family. Mimi is entering her Senior year of high school. Mimi’s very positive and gets the most joy when spending time with her campers. She is looking forward to meeting new and seeing old campers this summer.
Mitchell has been working in the camp and childcare industry since 2006. He is currently working on his credential at NDNU so he can be an elementary school teacher. Mitchell also works at the Treehouse after school program here at the PJCC as a Lead Teacher and is excited for his 3rd summer with Camp KEFF!
Nathan is super excited to be working for his second summer here at Camp Keff! He is currently working towards a degree in Human Geography at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and has experience working as a teacher’s assistant at his congregation, Peninsula Temple Beth El. Nathan is also a movie geek, and cannot wait to spend the summer getting kids to find their passions and create art of their own.
Nicolette has been a part of the Keff family now for 5 years. Although she is taking on multiple roles this summer she cannot be more excited to start her summer fun at camp. She recently graduated with a Bachelors in Arts this Spring and is excited to pursue her dream of achieving her teaching credential in the fall. During the year she also takes part in the PJCC’s aftercare program, Treehouse, and she loves seeing some of those kids in camp as well. She cannot wait to meet all of her new campers!
This is Nina’s second year with Camp Keff. She has 11 years of Recreation experience, ranging from after school programs to special event planning. Nina has spent the past two years working as a P.E. teacher in Redwood City. She is currently working on a master’s in Education as well as a multi-subject teaching credential. When not working at camp, she enjoys vacations outside of the U.S. with family, attending MLS soccer matches, or reading one of her many novels.
Parisa Kabiri just completed her first year at Skidmore College in New York, where she is studying psychology. At school, she is a tour guide, a member of an improv comedy group, and a Peer Health Educator. This summer, she is extremely excited to return as a counselor at Camp Keff for the second time! She has babysat for years and absolutely loves spending time with kids. Parisa has previously worked at the Beresford Recreation Center, where she helped in both guiding children in the dance studio as well as working in the Dance and Fitness Office behind the scenes. She hopes to create wonderful memories for herself and her campers this summer!
Pearl is going into her second year at California State University Long Beach. She is super excited to be working at Camp Keff this summer! Pearl has enjoyed babysitting kids and working as a volunteer at a local preschool. Pearl is looking forward to seeing the kids grow and learn new things this summer. Outside of camp you can see her enjoying the sun at the beach or walking her dog in the park.
Priscilla is enthused to come back to Camp Keff for her second year! Priscilla is currently a rising junior at Loyola Marymount University, pursuing a degree in Marketing with a Chinese minor. In her free time she loves to bake delicious desserts, spend time with her friends and family, and explore the great outdoors of the Bay Area! Priscilla loves working with kids and looks forward to another great summer at Camp Keff!
At 19 years old, Raisa is excited for her third summer working at Camp Keff! She attends Towson University in Maryland and plays softball there. Raisa enjoys playing sports with kids as well as singing songs and dancing. She loves to watch Keff campers make lifelong friendships each summer and cannot wait to help them make memories that will last a lifetime!
Regina is currently a statistics major at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. This is her second year working at camp and she is so excited to be coming back! Regina loves children and has been babysitting for years. She loves music and theater, and outside of camp you can find Regina petting dogs and eating lots of guacamole.
Robby has been with Camp Keff since June 2012, working as a Counselor and Unit Head. This year he will be spending his summer as the Teen Camp Coordinator. During the school year Robby is a teacher in the Treehouse after school program here at the PJCC. Outside of camp, Robby is a Bay Area sports fanatic and enjoys making music.
Sarah is a recent graduate of Mills High School and will attend Amherst College in Fall 2017. After volunteering as a camp counselor at Elkus Ranch since 2012, this is her first summer at Camp Keff. An avid runner, Sarah also enjoys crafting and listening to podcasts.
My favorite camp activities are the arts and crafts! I love seeing the kids explore their imagination and learn how to make something cool in the process. My favorite part of being a camp counselor is the fact that there is never a dull moment. It is a stimulating job that creates interesting problems that require unique solutions on a daily basis.
Scott is currently an accounting student at the University of Nevada, and this will be his third year working at camp. Scott has gone to camp his whole life and loves being able to pass on the experience this next generation of young campers.
Victoria has been teaching science and outdoor education since graduating from Humboldt State University in 2013. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Zoology and has a passion for science, stewardship, and teaching. Outside of work you can find Victoria under water, SCUBA diving through the kelp forests.
